A handsome 19th century chest of drawers by esteemed furniture makers Holland & Sons of London. Solid timber construction and overpainted in a deep midnight blue with subtle and delicate gilt detailing.

This dresser has two frieze drawers over four long drawers, all fitted with original turned handles and drawer linings with dovetails. A capacious and useful storage piece offering a large amount of space, all drawers open and close smoothly.

Holland and Sons worked extensively for the Royal Family, having been granted the Royal Warrant under Queen Victoria. They were involved in the decoration of numerous residences including Osborne House, Sandringham, Balmoral and Windsor Castle. Holland & Sons also worked for the British Government, including creations for the Palace of Westminster and the Victoria and Albert Museum. This highly collectable chest bears the impressed makers’ stamp to the top left drawer.

In good antique condition. Two of the lower drawer handles have chips to the backplates, shown in photos but is not particularly noticeable and doesn’t affect use. Superficial marks consistent with age and use.
