The speckled pattern across the surface of the base gives a tactile and textural quality while the oversized proportions add gravitas. The base is marked with the circular seal for Iden Pottery of Rye, Sussex. Iden’s high quality stoneware lamps earned them an industry reputation and they were regularly stocked by retailers such as Harrods in the mid to late mid century, today they are sought after British studio collectables.
